Project Groups
As part of the ongoing development of the 2050 vision, Business West has established two key project groups to run throughout 2012.
Avon Gorge/Barrage
The group is focused on developing a number of elements around the theme of developing an improved gateway to the city, the opportunities for leisure and recreation the Gorge could bring as well as energy generation, road access and redevelopment of the road system:
- Avon barrage & energy generation/flood defence
- Alternative road access
- Leisure opportunities along the river and Gorge
- World Heritage Status of the Gorge
- Clifton rocks railway
- Transport improvements along the Portway
- Realignment of the A370 and Cumberland Basin system
- Redevelopment opportunities in the Cumberland Basin
Education & Skills
This group is focused on supporting education and skills projects where action is needed now to provide the skills business needs for the future. In particular the focus is on areas where progress has been slow and where actions are not already being taken. Some of the themes in the book were based around the following aspects:
- Young people with attitude
- Urban village schools
- Education unlimited
We welcome any other ideas for projects and activities that you feel should be taken forward from the 2050 vision.
